ABOUT THE ROLE

Primary Tasks

  • Demonstrate the organisation’s Mission, Vision and Values in work tasks.
  • Provide a non-judgmental approach in work tasks.
  • Provide transparency and forewarning to line manager relating to work.
  • Annually read, with evidence of this as directed, policies and procedures of organisation.
  • Work towards identified KPIs as identified by the Board Planning Day: Strategic Plan and Business Plan, within scope of role.
  • Other tasks within scope of role as reasonably required or directed.
  • Higher duties may be required upon request.
  • Manage the review and implementation of systems, programs and procedures to reflect best Social Work practice at the organisation, providing support to staff and volunteers. This may involve designing tools for this purpose, with final versions requiring line manager approval.
  • Support the development and reviews of organisation’s staff and volunteer handbooks, with a focusing on supporting team to practice a supportive person-centred and strengths-based approach, empathy, inclusion and deep listening for referrals. Final version/s requiring line manager approval.
  • Manage and support relevant program staff with the implementation and reviewing of internal Program Framework, community needs analysis, community engagement, and evaluation mythology across existing, and any new, Programs (that are approved to commence).
  • Managing data collection and entry, and compliance to funding body reporting requirements.
  • Working with relevant staff to help facilitate the recruitment, coordination, training and support of volunteers for existing and new Programs.
  • Working with the Operations Manager to support the provision of relevant and regular training for, and meetings with, employees, Volunteer Team Leaders and Program volunteers within the scope of the role.
  • Manage delegated expenditure across the Programs and abide by funding conditions.
  • Within role scope, liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders, forums/networks and contractors.
  • Management of approved student placements in accordance with the placement agreement, with support from selected other program staff.
  • Support Director as a contact for funding contracts, such as Emergency Relief, Community Neighbourhood Development, and the Community Connections Program (CCP).

Non-Primary Tasks, as needed and as time allows:

  • Direct involvement in supporting Emergency Relief may be needed from time-to-time, especially to support the establishment and embedding of Social Work Practice.
  • At times, role may include conducting intake, assessment, and goal setting processes with CCP participants when Community Connections Coordinator needs support with caseload.
  • Help source funding for the organisation and Programs, e.g., assist grant applications.
  • Within the scope of role, support Social Work practice of other site work, for example Elizabeth South Community Centre and CareWorks Noarlunga and Brooklyn Park sites.
  • Supporting relevant events e.g., volunteer celebrations and fundraising events.
  • With Director approval, role may include supporting other projects and/or establishing of new Programs for people/groups experiencing marginalisation and/or disadvantage.
  • Support cross referral and linkages between other MarionLIFE Programs.

  • A passion to work towards the mission, vision and values of MarionLIFE.
  • Qualification/s in Social Work.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including written and phone skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office suite and a good level of computer literacy.
  • An enthusiastic, non-judgemental, and cooperative approach to work.
  • An ability to form, liaise with and develop positive working relationships and networks.
  • High ability to self-organise, meet deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
  • Awareness of obligations and responsibilities regarding equal opportunity, confidentiality and work health and safety.
  • Possession of, or willing to obtain, current Working With Children Check that states Not Prohibited, and current Child Safe Environment Training Certificate.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working in a similar role, with at least two years’ experience.
    • Experience and / or training in Community Development.
    • Experience working in the Not-For-Profit sector.
    • Hold a current South Australian Drivers Licence and have a roadworthy vehicle.
